At a time when Flipkart was just starting off in India, I was part of a 150 strong technology team that was building the $billion eCommerce store.hp.com. The engineering, product, infrastructure & operations, and supply-chain teams in Bangalore and Palo Alto burnt the midnight oil to roll-out a fully functional state-of-the-art eCommerce experience to our customers. ...and boy, did we generate $900M in revenues and outbid Dell to emerge as a market leader in the U.S.
I started off as a lead developer and went on to manage teams of 8-10 technologists in building eCommerce solutions for returns & refunds, new payment integrations, 'build your own PC', and several user experience enhancements. It was my first taste at working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment buzzing with enthusiasm and zeal to create a product!
