  • My research topic was related to Identifying Latent (Salient) Content in Images for the design of Smart Content Based Image Retrieval. "Content-based Search" means search based on the contents of the image rather than the metadata associate with an image. The "content" may refer to colors, shapes, textures, appearance or any other information that can be derived from the image itself. To find the latent (salient) content in image, simultaneous recognition (What) and localization (Where) of an objects in a scene are required. Both the localization and recognition problems when solved in isolation, assume that counter-part has been dealt independently and used as a support (or aid) in the other process. But to solve the problem of "What is Where" to identify the latent content, information from both these processes are required simultaneously and must be integrated in a single unified framework. The proposed approach is also inspired by the cognitive models of visual attention. The knowledge from various domains like Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Cognition domains have been used to design a framework for smart CBIR.

  • Development of a application, named Free Mobile Services Using Open Protocols and Internet, IBM Research Lab, Delhi
  • Details of work The aim of our work is to help the companies, institutions etc by making communication easy and virtually without any cost. The project involves three applications: client side mobile application (J2ME implementation), client side laptop/PC application (J2SE implementation) and server side application (J2SE implementation). Our design is based on request-reply architecture. System provides four services: messaging, voice mail, file transfer, access control and an authentication mechanism
