• Convinced clients that my pretty slides would solve their business problems. 🙂‍↔️
• But seriously, led teams of up to 8 associates on consulting projects for big-name clients and startups alike. We developed and implemented strategies for scaling, process optimization, cost reduction, and lean operations.
• Also nagged my ageing bosses to work with me on improving our business - we launched a new service line for startups, ran systematic research initiatives, designed structured training programs for our workforce and incorporated quality standards for executing projects.
• In the end, I mastered the art of saying the same thing in different, complicated ways - "increase revenues, decrease costs".
• But hey, those slides did look great. 😉

• That jerk who poked his nose into other departments’ work to find issues. 🧐
• Led teams to dive into everything from revenue contracts and payroll to post-merger chaos—uh, I mean, “integration activities”. Ran risk assessments, process walkthroughs, data analytics, and quality reviews like it was second nature.
• Oh, I also crafted solid audit programs, snazzy client decks, and fancy reports that made the Chief Audit Executive and Audit Committee actually pay attention (hopefully).
• Those other departments still hated me for mansplaining them on how to fix their issues – without actually having to fix them. 😆

May 2020 – Sep 2021 · 1 yr 4 mos · Hyderabad, Telangana

• Hated by clients for showing up every year to show them their mistakes. 😬
• Led teams of up to four assistants to execute external audit projects for international clients – basically digged their books like your girlfriend digs your messages. Performed environment analysis, control walkthroughs, risk assessments, analytical reviews, I lost you didn’t I?
• Aha, I quite actively organised the firm’s extracurriculars, i.e. forced my peers to attend mandatory fun events after pulling 16-hour shifts.
• My manager loved that I asked a lot of questions, as long as I asked the client and not him. 🤫

Mar 2019 – Mar 2020 · 1 yr · Kolkata

• Made businesses leaner, meaner, and legally cleaner. 😌
• Handled consulting and assurance projects while also running outsourced functions – accounting, HR & payroll, compliance, and filing. Basically, if it had numbers or legal fine print, it was on my desk.
• Also designed and implemented new processes that saved time, cut costs, and made life easier for everyone (except those who loved inefficiency).
• Obviously clients loved me, but their employees didn’t. 😆

Jun 2018 – Feb 2019 · 8 mos · Kolkata

• Turned MIS reporting from a dull spreadsheet into a strategic weapon. ✊🏻
• Worked with production teams to track material & labor utilization, process efficiency, inventory movement, overhead allocation, and logistics – basically, if something moved, I had a report on it. Also dabbled in secretarial compliance because, well, someone had to.
• But you know, no matter how good the MIS reports were, the only thing management really cared about was “bhai kitne paise kharch hue?” 🧐

Oct 2014 – Jan 2018 · 3 yrs 3 mos · Kolkata

• Worked weekends with teams of sleep-deprived assistants to manage advisory and assurance projects. 😣
• Defined project scope, deliverables, and execution plans, ensuring everything ran smoothly and on time (except for client data, which never arrived when it was supposed to). Oversaw risk assessments, financial analysis, and control testing – aka ensuring the numbers made sense and weren’t just creative writing.
• Also spent a fair bit of time explaining to articles that “sir, client ne bola balance sheet banake bhej do” is not how audits work. 🤓
