About

I’m Payal — Founder of Seraphic Media In 2019, I returned to Bombay after spending a year in France working in the ‘Luxury Fashion’ industry. In two weeks, I landed a job with one of the country's top fashion designers. The job I got at the fashion firm helping customers buy from the brand wasn’t quite what I had in mind, but having a job gave me the idea about what is broken in the industry in our country. As it turned out, my experience outlasted the job. It came with me from fashion to the beauty industry and beyond. Digital marketing made sense to me, so I started working with clients helping them explore the wild west of digital branding in the luxury market. Along the way, I saw customers spending their hard-earned money on sub-par goods. And while technically my job was still selling the brand, sharing and hearing those customer stories quickly became my favorite part. Customer satisfaction was what made a brand successful. More than that, it was seeing the happy faces of customers that made me want to get up in the morning. I loved my work, but not how a big part of the industry operated. For brands, they didn't exactly know what the customers wanted and how to price their products correctly. They also had no idea of how digital growth happens in this market. On the customers' side, they didn't know what brands to pick. It is where I come in. Sometimes, I spend time listening to customers. Other times I help brands reach those customers. Sometimes I use my experience of working in Europe to bring new ideas to help clients in India do better. I first did strategy for the fashion/beauty/luxury industry back in college. I then did it for a brand in France. I then did it for many major brands in India. After this, I started on my own. I operate in these three industry verticals only because I've spent a significant part of my life working in the industry and understanding the particular challenges it faces every day. I am fascinated by how a brand's story and digital existence affect its business — especially startups.
