When I look back at my career, one thing stands out, I’ve always been drawn to businesses the world calls “commodities.” Plywood. Cement. Milk. Glue. Steel. Categories that rarely make headlines, yet quietly build the world around us. Early on, I realised something powerful - these businesses weren’t losing because their products weren’t good enough. They were losing because they had no story. No emotional connect. No reason for customers to remember their name. That realisation led me to start Curry Nation. An agency built for owner managed businesses in commoditised categories. Our mission was simple - help them break free from price wars, trade dependency, and low brand recall, and instead become brands customers ask for by name. Over the years, we developed the Commodity to Branding™ (C2B™) Framework, and within it, our game-changing UNLIMIT™ Workshop - an intense, interdisciplinary problem-solving sprint where we crack one big brand challenge and generate ideas strong enough to fuel the business for the next 12–18 months. From sugar to steel, adhesives to construction boards, I’ve worked with categories most agencies don’t even attempt to understand, repositioning legacy businesses for future growth and succession. But I didn’t want this knowledge to remain locked inside workshop rooms. So I wrote From Commodity to Brand - my way of putting the entire journey into the hands of any entrepreneur ready to stop competing on price and start building a brand that lasts.
