Dr Mritunjay Chaubey is Chief Sustainability Officer at UPL Limited and internationally renowned sustainability, environment & water expert. Recently he has been nominated by IIT Bombay as an Advisory Board Member for the IIT Bombay Research Hub for Green Energy & Sustainability. Dr. Chaubey holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and brings nearly 28 years of professional experience from leading multinational corporations including Pentair, Shell, Unilever, and UPL. He has carved a distinguished niche in the corporate world by integrating sustainability into core business strategies and significantly reducing environmental footprints of global enterprises. To date, over 100 sustainable environmental technologies designed by him are operational across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. He has played a key role in securing 50 environmental clearances from statutory authorities and is highly proficient in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Dr. Chaubey serves on the Editorial Boards of the esteemed journals Research Journal of Chemistry and Environment and Arab Water World. He is also a member of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), contributing to the formulation of national standards for water, wastewater treatment, and environmental protection. He has published over 50 technical papers in reputed international journals and conferences and holds five patents. He is the author of the well-regarded book “Wastewater Treatment Technologies Design Considerations,” published by Wiley, USA, and has served as a speaker at the UN Water Conference. Currently, Dr. Chaubey holds the position of Chief Sustainability Officer at UPL Limited. His contributions have earned him several prestigious honors, including the “Most Influential Sustainability Leader Award,” “Chief Sustainability Officer of the Year Award,” “Asian Sustainable Leadership Award,” and the “Sustainability Leader of the Year Award.” He is also a Certified Independent Director, accredited by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Dr Chaubey holds various positions in associations such as WBCSD, UNGC, CII, FICCI, ICCA, ICC.
