Priyank Sharma — Associate Partner
Dr. Priyank Sharma is an educator, researcher (NIEPA), counsellor (NCERT), social worker (TISS) and an engineer (NIT). He has been working, reading, writing, presenting, talking, and publishing in different domains of education. Currently, he is working as Associate Director - Research and Educational Projects with Suraasa where he leads national level projects on teacher education. He has done extensive fieldwork, literature review & research to understand different aspects of education. From ancient education pedagogy to factory schooling, from pedagogical innovations to assessment models and from colonial legacy to independent govt policy reforms, he has tried to build a keen and deep understanding on the what, why and how of our education system. He has publications (see below) in both UGC refereed and Scopus Indexed Journals. Dr. Sharma has worked with national & international organizations to help them in strategy, operations, academics, research and product development. He has worked on creating edtech products on curriculum & instruction and learning science research. And, he has been on the review board of one of the world's largest edtech competitions. Also, Priyank has travelled across the country visiting different alternative schools/learning centres. He has looked closely at multiple innovative & inclusive pedagogical practices; for instance, he has learnt from a school where there is no grade-wise division of students, a school where students learn math & music together, a space where children with & without disabilities sit together and learn, and also a college where you don't need a 12th class certificate to get in & you also don't get a degree when you graduate. As a researcher, he never wanted research to sit on paper; therefore, he keeps using his research to curate experimental ideas. In fact, he has been trying to develop a new pedagogical framework, and his research has been on the side effects of education. Also, Dr. Sharma is on the advisory board of two organizations: 1. CITTA India - working on building a rural school that empowers rural communities in their own cultural context, and 2. CoLab - driving social change through research and evidence based initiatives. Priyank is an ambassador at hundrED.org (global stage for education innovations) and has been invited on several forums: Dailyhunt, IIT Bombay ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter, Karta Initiative, Silver Lining for Learning (a podcast run by professors of Kansas University, Arizona State University, Harvard and Indiana University).
