About

Thriving innovative leader transforming ideas and vision into reality. My professional journey blends academic science, entrepreneurship, and a passion for impactful innovations. As a founder of Yuva Biosciences, I lead a startup at the forefront of advancing our understanding of mitochondrial science and its profound influence on human health and longevity. This leadership role has given me first-hand insight into both the transformative power of innovative ideas and the complexities and challenges entrepreneurs face in bringing these ideas to life. Driven by curiosity and a desire to make a difference, I continue exploring the mysteries of mitochondria, aiming to unlock new pathways into impactful solutions for healthy aging, longevity, and longevity medicine. I've been recognized among Stanford's top 2% of scientists worldwide and honored as an Innovation Hero by Newsweek. My enthusiasm for science and discovery fuels my leadership in exploring organellar communication, cell metabolism, genetics, and numtogenesis—critical to understanding the broader implications of mitochondrial function in human health and disease. As the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Mitochondrion and Cancer Health Disparities journals, I am committed to pushing the boundaries of these fields and fostering rigorous scientific inquiry and change. Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to contribute to the scientific community in numerous ways. I'm an elected member of the Sigma Xi Society and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, London, UK. My work has been cited in newspapers and magazines, and I've given interviews on radio shows and television about topics of public interest. My research has been featured in Nature, Newsweek, US News and World Report, Forbes, Vogue, Bazaar, Beauty Crew, Hindustan Times, International Business Times, Bloomberg, and many other outlets in various languages worldwide. Beyond my research, I founded the Mitochondria Research and Medicine Societies in the US and India. My commitment to this field is further demonstrated by my service on the editorial boards of many scientific journals and authorship of over 100 research publications and three books. I earned my undergraduate degree in India, a Ph.D. in Australia, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. I then joined Johns Hopkins as an Assistant Professor of Oncology before advancing to Professor and a Distinguished Professorship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, and the Joy and Bill Harbert Endowed Chair at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.
