About

Most people are surprised to hear: "I am an IIT Bombay engineer turned national-level deep-sea freediving athlete." Yeah, life had other plans for me. While growing up, I was a shy, invisible, nerdy kid. But take me to the ocean or river, and I would be the first one in and last one out. Somewhere between adulthood, Zoom calls, and proving-my-worth culture, I lost myself. In 2022, after 7 years in the development sector, I hit burnout so hard that I couldn’t feel anything. The ocean brought me back to life. From 2022 onwards, I dived across the Andamans, Malta, Thailand, Bali, Egypt and the Philippines — learning to hold my breath, calm my nervous system, and dive 40+ meters on a single breath. (A milestone only 2-3 other Indian women have reached.) My journey has been featured in the Outlook Traveller, Hindustan Times, Times of India's Ahmedabad Mirror, Eat My News, The Better India, Chitralekha Magazine, The Vibe, the Millennial Comrade Podcast, and Radio Mirchi - while giving my parents high blood pressure and a renewed faith in God. Balance. Today, I coach high-achieving women and leaders to release emotional weight, rebuild confidence, and return to a grounded, powerful version of themselves. I also deliver keynotes and interactive workshops on focus, mental strength, nervous system mastery, and courageous leadership — all rooted in lived experience out at sea. Outside work, you’ll find me at the gym, day dreaming about my next adventure, drinking hot chocolate or savoring a slow, healthy meal. My current mantra, which you can borrow it: “My dreams are dreaming of me. What’s meant for me will find me.” If you'd like to collaborate — whether it’s a keynote speech, leadership workshop, 1-1 coaching for women in leadership, or joining our invite-only ocean expeditions — don't be a stranger: hello@deepdivewithsmruti.com
