Dr. Dinesh Katre — Co-Founder

Dr. Dinesh Katre is a Design Researcher and Innovator with over 33 years of professional experience. He is the author of "Neuro-Attentive Design: Cognitive Design for Human-AI Interaction" and the creator of the pioneering online course “Design Psychology for Product Innovation”. He is also the founder of EngramLogic, a company committed to advancing the emerging field of Psychonomic Interaction Design within scope of Human-Centric AI. As the former Senior Director and founder of the Human-Centred Design & Computing Group at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Dr. Katre has led the design and development of numerous software products and solutions with human-computer interaction (HCI) research at their core. He has spearheaded and implemented several national-level projects and programs focused on computing for cultural heritage and digital preservation. He has been a tireless advocate for design psychology, conducting widely attended Open Design Psychology Webinars to engage the UX community. These sessions have explored the psychological dimensions of diverse domains such as Social Media, Digital Payments, Service Design, Gamification, Digital Empathy, and AI-Metahuman Interaction Design. In addition to public education, Dr. Katre offers expert consultancy to multinational IT firms, helping them innovate through cognitive and behavioral design strategies. Dr. Katre has served as Vice Chair of IFIP WG 13.6 on Human Work Interaction Design, and has edited two books on Cultural Usability published in Springer’s Advances in Information Communication and Technology (AICT) series. He has authored numerous research articles, national study reports, and technical standards. He represented India in the UNESCO's International Experts Consultative Meet for Preserving in Digital Era in 2014 at Warsaw, Poland. His contributions have been recognized globally. He received the Emmett Leahy Award (2020) and the NDSA Individual Innovation Award (2019)—both prestigious honors awarded in the United States. Projects under his leadership have also won the Manthan Digital Inclusion Awards (South Asia & Asia Pacific) in 2015 and 2012. He is also a recipient of Distinguished Service and Excellence in R & D Awards by C-DAC. He holds a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (2005) from BITS Pilani (sponsored and hosted by C-DAC), and a Master of Design (1992) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
