Art Director

Feb 1998Apr 2008 · 10 yrs 2 mos · Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

  • I started out at the RAB as an administrative assistant. Within three months, I was promoted to our Communications department to take data sheets and turn them into usable written sentences or paragraphs for a proprietary proposal application the company created. In a month, I was managing the application.
  • A few months after that, I was asked to learn a little PhotoShop to help our Web Master with creating some buttons. I found where I needed to be at that point in my life. I took to PhotoShop and Illustrator and PageMaker (then InDesign) like a duck to water. I became the graphic designer, then ultimately the Art Director for the company.
  • In addition to directing all new marketing concepts and training materials, my favorite project every year was our annual convention. I had a blank slate with a new location each year to come up with our theme and materials. I designed everything from the huge banners that hung in hallways, to the email and mail marketing pieces, to the badges that thousands of radio sales people would wear daily. Day one of the convention was always madness, but I reveled in looking at the last 7 months of my work walking around that convention floor. It was extremely fulfilling and humbling.
