About

I teach communication and negotiation at India’s top private business school, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, in Mumbai.I specialise in interpersonal, strategic, and leadership communication; enjoy teaching Negotiation Skills, Persuasion and Public Speaking to business professionals. My research areas are Media and Misinformation (Fake News), Gender Discourse, Emotional Intelligence, Communication, and Hybrid Work (Work-From-Home). As a journalist and broadcaster with the BBC World Service in London, working on Science and Health programmes in English and current affairs in Hindi, I had the opportunity to learn about the complex problems of the world. I reported on various issues, wrote articles and engaged in debates, travelled the world, and developed the acumen to communicate well across platforms and with diverse stakeholders. Later, leading the BBC’s Business Development in Asia and Digital Radio promotion internationally, I learnt to negotiate with multiple international stakeholders, lead and manage teams, handle large budgets, and curate and present at conferences and seminars. Working in India’s media industry gave me the best exposure to dealing with government and regulatory bodies, managing reputation and crises, and ensuring the business made a profit and teams were well managed. In my academic role as a professor of Communications, I have had the chance to influence the leaders of tomorrow, lead communication strategy, and stay abreast of the all the new media platforms that Gen Z devours. It has also been a rewarding experience to research media and misinformation for my PhD and to grapple with the fundamental problem of information imbalance in the post-truth world. I love travel, storytelling, photography, books, movies, and poetry.
