AI did not simply make engineers faster. It made coordination cheaper and context more valuable. Many assumptions I used to hold about specialization, handoffs, and org design are already obsolete. Today, I design AI-first teams by default. Not AI as an add-on, but AI as a core part of how engineering, product, and operations collaborate. Smaller teams. Fewer handoffs. More ownership. Faster feedback loops. Less overhead that does not scale down once a company grows. I’ve learned this the hard way. Scaling up is easy. Scaling down is painful. It comes with real financial cost and real human cost. That reality changes how I think about team design from day one. Currently, I’m CTO at Velocity, where we’re building stablecoin-based payment infrastructure that combines the speed of digital assets with the discipline of traditional finance. Highly regulated environment, real money, real consequences. I care about: * engineering leadership grounded in practice, not theory * systems thinking and second-order effects * integration over optimization * building teams that can move fast without breaking trust I write and speak about engineering leadership, AI-driven development, org design, and building systems that actually survive contact with the real world.
