The only VC in Indiranagar who does not own a smartwatch, a fitness tracker, a Ultra human ring who buys only clothes under Rs 1000 a piece using a under 20K android smartphone working on a Windows laptop driving around in a 8 year old diesel rocket - Love you Rhino, I know our long road trip is always pending :) An investor at heart with a love for cashflow, I am trying to make a mark in the VC industry. Practical, straightforward and always approachable are the words that act as guiding markers for me in this journey. Previously, I satisfied my lust for food by being a restaurant owner and my baniya heritage by building a profitable one. Find us at Axis Mall, Kolkata under the names of Keshariya Junction, Mughlai Story, Dosai and The Noodle Express. Prior to that, I managed First Cheque (www.firstcheque.vc), a venture fund that aimed to be the first institutional backer at the pre-seed stage (often at the paper-plan stage), with a standard cheque size of ₹75 lakh. The team prided itself on a quick 14-day turnaround from application to investment decision. As investors, we saw ourselves as guides rather than micromanagers, believing our role was to be catalysts in an entrepreneur’s journey. Over 18 months, we backed 32 companies across sectors, with early winners like 30Sundays (Bessemer backed), CapGrid (Nexus Ventures), Simplismart (Accel), GetCrux (YC & Emergent Ventures), Ambitio (BLinc Invest), and Kyzo (India Quotient), among others. My stint there ended when the management (India Quotient VC) decided to close the program. Before that the maturing me worked with Dr. Reddys Central Strategy team under the guidance of Mr. Sandeep Khandelwal (CEO). The child in me got trained as a management consultant at EY Strategy. Across my career—consulting, investing, founding and operating— I have developed the ability to look at business from different lenses. I learned how to zoom in and out depending on the need, prioritise effectively, lead with purpose, and solve problems from a first-principles perspective. Patience, bias for action, and a drive to get things done are values I optimize for. Outside of work, I am passionate about automobiles and spend a lot of time learning about them—I even dream of becoming a racecar driver someday. I love meeting new people & hosting people at home is my one love.
