Over 430 teams wordwide (around 140 from Europe) compete with their completely self designed and manufactured prototype-race-cars against each other. For winning the event a team must not only have a fast car, but has to be able to convince with a combination of good engineering design, race performance, cost efficiency and salesmanship. AMZ Racing Team competes since 2010 with an electric race car in the electric class of Formula Student.
