My first was an Operational Vocation with the 1st Singapore Infantry Regiment (1SIR) as Bravo Company Liaison Officer. My role in the Regiment involved direct communication and active mission planning with the Officer in Command (OC) of the various companies which, at that time, was a daunting task as a new officer.
  • Secondly, I was an Instructional Vocation at Artillery Institute, training the subsequent batches of Artillery Officers and also conducting refresher courses for NSmen, roughly once every fortnight. Here, I was thrust into a wide spectrum of roles here including,

I was invovled in the printing and sorting of brochures and advertisements for the Republic Singapore Air Force (RSAF) as well as to conduct recruitment talks to convince young Singaporeans why it is their calling to serve the nation long term.
