After finishing my Bachelors from IDC, IIT Bombay, I joined Khatabook (then a 5 guys working out of an apartment with <1 Mn downloads app) as a designer but quickly realised that I have a knack for building products. I was able to grow quickly within a product role owing to two things: 1. Khatabook's growth as a startup (It grew 250+ member team with 10Mn MTUs within 2 years during my time there) 2. Multiple battlefield promotions initially & latter through my skill & impact within the org I am quite comfortable working on 0 to 1 phases & creating long term roadmaps & strategy. These days I am trying to go deeper & improve my understanding of growth initiatives (specifically within payments).
