About

I am proud graduate of North Carolina State University, where I earned my degree in electrical engineering. I bring experience across a range of industries, developing a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and delivering effective solutions for clients. I currently apply my skills within the high-voltage substation space, leveraging both my academic training and professional experience to support reliable and efficient engineering outcomes. While I am early in my career in this specific field, I am committed to continuous learning and growth, using my broad understanding of electrical engineering principles to take on new challenges each day. I am driven to become a highly proficient engineer and aspire to grow into a leadership role, with my long-term goal of contributing to innovation and transformation within this rapidly evolving industry. My biggest accomplishment in my career actually happened before I embarked on a career path in technology and engineering. In the spring/summer of 2020, when I was sent back home from college as COVID began, I decided to reach out to a local small business that specializes in tree removal and landscaping for commercial and residential clients. Since it was the hottest time of the year during that stretch, there were many days when I contemplated resigning. But finishing that assignment became my biggest accomplishment. I was able to stick through it, and I’ve tried to carry that same work ethic into whatever role I’m in today. Along with technical skills, I strive to bring three core qualities to any organization: adaptability, collaboration, and passion. In a world defined by constant innovation, one thing remains certain—the only constant is change. While adaptability is often discussed at a broad level, its true value shows up in our day-to-day work: how quickly we learn, adjust, and respond in real time. Being adaptable means staying effective, even when circumstances shift unexpectedly. Equally important is collaboration. While individual contributions matter, meaningful progress is rarely achieved in isolation. Strong teams are built on trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to common goals. When people work cohesively, they don’t just complete tasks—they elevate one another’s performance. Finally, passion ties everything together. It fuels persistence, inspires creativity, and drives meaningful results. Without it, even great ideas can lose momentum. With it, challenges become opportunities, and innovation becomes not just possible, but inevitable.

Automation/Protection Comissioning Engineer

May 2024Oct 2024 · 5 mos · Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

  • Specialized in FAT and SAT testing, commissioned GIS and AIS switchgear, and traveled to domestic project sites to ensure reliable and compliant switchgear automation and protection systems.
  • I primarily dealt with the automation side of commissioning, being the last eyes on E-houses before they were shipped to high-profile clients. This included fully compliant fiber optic capabilities, with all relays communicating effectively with all aspects of the E-house (breakers, contacts, low-voltage components of the E-house, etc.) at a wide range of integration sites. SCADA/HMI capabilities were checked for full functionality, depending on if this was in scope of the project.
  • For the protection aspects, I underwent a thorough in-house training with exposure to inducing current via an Omicron and checking the functionality of breaker schemes. I have an understanding of wiring schematics for either GIS or AIS Medium Voltage Switchgear, and developed strong high-stress, problem solving skills.

Technical Consulting Engineer Co-Op

Jan 2023Jun 2023 · 5 mos

  • In my role as a Technical Consulting Engineer supporting Cisco DCNM, I worked on advanced data center networking environments built on VXLAN BGP EVPN fabrics within spine-leaf architectures. I specialized in troubleshooting complex control-plane and data-plane issues, performing deep packet analysis, telemetry correlation, and log parsing across NX-OS systems.
  • I debugged fabric provisioning workflows, automation pipelines, and REST API integrations, while analyzing core dumps and replicating customer issues in lab environments to identify root causes. I collaborated closely with escalation and engineering teams to drive resolution of software defects and validate fixes.
  • Additionally, I optimized underlay/overlay convergence, improved fabric scalability and high availability, and ensured reliable end-to-end data plane forwarding. This role strengthened my expertise in protocols such as MP-BGP EVPN, OSPF, and IS-IS, as well as in distributed systems troubleshooting and data center automation.
  • I spent time developing a core fundamental understanding of computer networking, and aspire to eventually officially obtain certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE, if my career path permits.

  • In this role my job was to assist senior/mid level engineers in the design and implementation for anything electrically power related in commercial buildings. This included lighting, special systems, fire alarm, receptacles, single line diagrams, etc., drawing plans. We worked alongside architects as well as our own internal mechanical and plumbing team to ensure that drawing plans exhibited the correct amount of current to properly power whichever preexisting or new construction building we were working with.
