Just like my name, I had been a surprise for a greater part of my life. I grew up looking at young officers clad in white uniforms, courtesy Mom who worked as a civilian for Indian Navy, & that’s how I was inclined to join the defence someday. The fortunate event happened when I was in my 1st year of B School but I realised that it wasn’t my calling. Everyone said you will regret this Miss but little did they know what the future had in store for me. Studying HR & pivoting to Brand Marketing is a beautiful accident that I will always cherish & be grateful for having found what my heart was secretly looking for. Joined a startup right after college & swayed with the bumpy ride, taking up new challenges, ownership, absolute demanding roles & responsibilities cause saying “not possible” was not me. Working with a startup is like being on your toes & being a call away, the icing on the cake was the product (MILK - an everyday commodity) that needed a lot of commitment like waking up in wee hours & being out there. I had been a fond team member & the go to person no matter what task at what time is at hand; my coworkers referred to me as Ak47, a dark horse & always found me bankable. Different bosses, different geographies, new team mates, lots of interns & a hoard of stories from new product launch, market research, farmer networking, brand activation, BTL & ATL campaign roll outs to remember. Since 2019, am my own boss - “it will be fun” they said but trust me it’s tasking. Everyday you have to surpass your own best from the day before or atleast try to do so. You have eyes on you looking upto you as a model, inspiration & of course someone who could lead; the performance pressure is much greater than the appraisal ones. Here too I play different roles like of a packing executive when you have a last minute order to ship, of an HR & Admin executive, of trade marketing, of a business development & the best one of all of being the customer care executive (cause that’s where you interact with consumers, something I absolutely love). But love the process, loving this uncertainty, love everything about this new role. Creating something for yourself is a reward in itself but when you do it for a greater cause it’s a blessing for all.
