About

I’m passionate about developing products that improve millions of people’s lives and leading the amazing engineering organisations required to achieve that. I believe in servant leadership, and enabling teams through clear direction, coaching, and autonomy. I am committed to building team cultures that nurture inclusion, belonging, and continuous learning. In 2022, I co-founded modo, the mindful productivity app that helps you be present in the moment and frees you up to focus on what really matters. With over 21 years of experience, I’ve worked as a full stack engineer on all aspects of the development lifecycle from inception, to deployment, to lifecycle management and scaling. I still love to code, and even when my formal role hasn’t provided much opportunity for hands-on development I’ve stayed close to the latest technologies through personal projects and community involvement. I’ve led teams, managed managers, and eventually taken accountability for the People and Culture practices of entire product organisations. This has given me a unique perspective on the challenges of building and managing high-performance product development organisations at scale. I’ve also been highly engaged within the development community, including organising and presenting at engineering and leadership conferences, and mentoring via various programs. I’m happiest in smaller companies and especially love working in start-ups where I can combine my passions for hands-on development, growing amazing engineering teams and fostering connections with broader ecosystems. I am an avid quilter in my spare time, but that is a story for another day.
