About

Human beings navigate the external world based on internal maps -- our unique ways of seeing, interpreting and responding to the events, people and situations around us. These maps are made up of the data we choose to pay attention to, the assumptions we make about what things mean, and the beliefs we form about what is "true" in the world. These maps are necessary AND they require updating if we are to build productive relationships and take effective action in our high-pressure world of constant change. Julie uses a practical, action-orientated approach to helping business leaders become more strategic, focused and agile through stakeholder feedback, coaching insights and leadership best practices. In the process, her clients also increase self-awareness, make more effective choices for action and improve energy/time management in the face of conflicting demands.

Interim Director, Talent Development

Jan 2020Jun 2020 · 5 mos · Greater Atlanta Area

  • Reporting directly to the interim CHRO, responsible for Talent Development in five Centers of Excellence (COEs):
  • Global Leadership Strategy
  • Leadership Effectiveness
  • Manager Effectiveness
  • Team Effectiveness
  • Coaching and Assessments
  • Led a team of fourteen talent coaches, consultants, learning designers and operations specialists across the COE's, to execute strategic talent initiatives to enable Ultimate's leadership and teams during a time of massive disruption and change: Ultimate's transition from a 30-year, publicly-held company to purchase by private equity; a subsequent merger with Kronos Incorporated; and navigating the Covid-19 global pandemic. Highlight was design and delivery of the People Inspired Leadership Series (PILS). PILS brought UKG's 2,000 leaders across the globe together virtually to begin to create shared values and leadership priorities for the new company. The result was a six-month, virtual leadership conference leveraging thought-leader speakers (e.g., Adam Grant), peer learning circles and on-line learning content around five key themes based on employee engagement data. PILS was nominated and awarded Gold for Excellence in the Future of Work by the Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards in 2021.

Lead Executive Coach and Director, Senior Leader Development

Mar 2018Jan 2020 · 1 yr 10 mos · Greater Atlanta Area

  • Recruited to Ultimate Software (an HCM technology leader) as the senior executive coach and leader of Coaching Center of Excellence. Delivered top talent (SVP, VP and Director) development programs to drive our leadership pipeline. Partnered with the lead for Talent Assessments to deliver:
  • Leadership coaching and assessment strategy, program design and execution
  • 1:1 Executive coaching programs (focused on onboarding, promotions and other key leadership transitions)
  • Group coaching/peer learning program to prepare HIPO Directors and Sr. Directors for the next level
  • Delivered executive coaching engagements (1:1 and peer cohort) annually to an average of 150+ C-suite, SVP, VP, Senior Director and Director-level talent, with a staff of two, full-time internal executive coaches. Managed and reduced costs of external coaching via a strategic, hybrid coaching model with differential leverage -- internal coaches for newly-hired and newly-promoted leaders, and external coaches for custom engagements for individual leaders with skill gaps or behavioral change needs.
  • Also led a cross-departmental team in the creation of Ultimate's CARE Program for leaders in transition. Purpose was to integrate newly-hired executives and managers into the company, better and faster. And to support newly-promoted leaders as they stepped into their first six months of next-level leadership. Over time, expanded the program into on-line learning resources (e.g. LinkedIn Learning) and peer coaching circles in order to scale across a fast-growing, global company and to lower levels (e.g. new managers).
