• Matter: Smart Home Standard - Architected and implemented the Matter TV Casting Mobile SDK, a cross-platform solution (Linux, Android, iOS) providing an open-standard alternative to proprietary casting systems. Enabled Prime Video to integrate Matter-based TV casting, later adopted by Amazon Photos, Tubi, and Sling. Contributed 100+ code changes and developed consistent APIs (C/C++, Java/Kotlin, Objective-C/Swift) improving discovery, connection, and casting. Advised SVPs/VPs on UWB, authoring a detailed, unbiased analysis of use cases and costs, driving cross-org consensus and informing the wait-and-watch strategy.
• Detection, Identification and Connection Experience (DICE) – Architected and launched a pre-consent-to-connect system bridging discovery and customer consent, detecting 5.1M devices for 4M customers in the first week (Fire TV, Xbox, VIZIO, Roku, Sonos). Designed distributed AWS-based services (backend with data store, frontend for Alexa app GUI, Echo firmware integration), integrating privacy-first policies and user controls. Scaled to ~1000 TPS across devices, cloud, and app; authored DNS-SD–based strategy for future category expansion.
• Smart Home AV Devices & Experiences – Defined the three-year AV Devices Technical North Star architecture, aligning local detection, multimodal experiences, targeting, and phased system delivery. Built Flare, the Alexa Multimodal Visual app for Xbox, using scalable cloud architecture and React.js/React Native for cross-domain experiences without native app updates; prototyped a UWP version to validate design before launch.
• Alexa Skills Kit Catalog Upload System (Axis) – Architected bar-raised REST APIs and backend services (DynamoDB, S3) to support terabyte-scale, performant 3P catalog ingestion across domains. Enabled automated onboarding for Music and ASTS domains at launch, improving reliability and reducing manual processes. Proposed 20+ post-launch features to expand content freshness and partner support.

• Implemented SDCH (“Shared Dictionary Compression over HTTP/HTTPS”) on Amazon’s high-traffic web infrastructure, serving billions of requests per day; the Apache module was engineered for extreme performance and stability, achieving p90 click-to-ATF latency improvements of 94ms on US desktop Detail Pages and 45ms on Gateway pages, with p99 improvements of 603ms and 174ms respectively, delivering an estimated $280M annualized OPS gain.
• Led the end-to-end design and integration of SDCH server-side components, including dictionary management, compression, and logging, ensuring seamless compatibility with Chrome and Opera requests while enabling future expansion to mobile web and international markets.
• Led client-side latency optimizations across Desktop and Mobile Product Detail Pages, achieving measurable improvements in click-to-ATF and responseStart-to-End timings, improving user experience and engagement.
• Designed and developed Universal Product Detail Pages, focusing on Amazon’s mobile website and app, enabling consistent, scalable, and performant page rendering across devices and platforms.
