  • Almost half of the SKUs were sourced directly from the farmers via collection centres where farmers were compensated basis quality grades of their produce and this led to an average of 10-20% better prices compared to their local mandi
  • The produce was delivered to the retailers with excess stock sold in the mandi. In a market with extremely high returns, we achieved less than 5% returns because of farmer sourcing and efficient sorting grading ops at the distribution centre
  • Achieved 20%+ operating margins at a scale of 2 TPD for 10 SKUs across 20 customers
  • 2 key realizations led to the pivot
  • 1) Scalability limitations of the model
  • 2) Much bigger opportunity brewing in front of us of solving the information layer problems in the transactions, viz, lack of discovery and information asymmetry by leveraging smartphone and internet
