Shivang Singh — Founder
I’m the Founder & CEO of Impacto, a climate-tech startup building sustainability solutions for consumers, businesses and governments. Let’s rewind by a few years: As one of the 2017 ISC board toppers, I started undergrad at SRCC pursuing a Bachelors in Economics. Less than a month into the program, The University of Hong Kong invited me to study on full scholarship. Though a tough call, I decided to take the offer with an aim to gain global exposure and broaden my horizons. At HKU, I pursued a specialised BBA in International Business and Global Management with a second major in Wealth Management. The program gave me an opportunity to meet people from different walks of life as well as be part of prestigious international forums. I attended summer school at Harvard, another one at LSE, and a semester exchange at WU Vienna. I started shaping myself as a truly global citizen. In 2021, my first startup was born. Edilery sought to innovate sustainable products for the FnB industry starting with edible cutlery and straws. The idea was a grand success. We won the Hult Prize university-round in Hong Kong, then won the subsequent regional-round in Manila. Finally, convening in London with forty startups from around the world for the Hult Prize Global Accelerator, we scored the runner-up pitch. Throughout this process, I noticed a larger problem that most impact entrepreneurs face: the lack of traction due to higher costs of sustainability. Bill Gates calls this the Green Premium. The excess cost one incurs in manufacturing ethically from sustainable materials to avoid costs to environment. I realised what the world needed was an aggregator of sustainable brands that multiplies the volume of green trade in turn pushing down the Green Premium. This way, sustainable alternatives to environmentally harmful products will not only become cheaper but also enter the mainstream for global mass adoption. Enter Impacto: A venture that’s doing exactly that - enabling eco-friendly living for consumers and facilitating sustainable sourcing for businesses at scale. Other than my ventures, I’m also into social service. By working with governments or leading initiatives voluntarily, I work in policy-making, project-management, and on-ground impact execution. A foodie, a traveller, a swimmer, a drummer, I’m always open to chat with you and explore potential synergies where there’s common ground and shared values :) That’s me.
