• While working at the HMPPS Digital Studio in Sheffield I have been part of the developer community building maintainable and sustainable products and services using established and GDS (Government Design Service) best practices.
• My main role in the studio is the lead developer on the Digital In-cell Content Hub product and while working with my team I have pushed to:
• Use established and GDS (Government Design Service) best practices
• Iterate the product incrementally to make it better.
• Update the technologies to make it more in line with HMPPS digital strategies
• Increase the test coverage of our product to make it more robust
• Acquire new developers for the team and fill the skill gaps the product needed.
• Improve the release mechanism of our product by working with the studio DSO (Digital Studio Operations) team.
• Structured the stories and tasks so we can deliver something quicker to users and have a clear plan or new features that will be added incrementally.
• As part of the hub development team, I have had the privilege of being a mentor to a junior developer in the studio, in this capacity I have:
• Had him pair and shadow senior developers to get him familiar with the codebase
• Gave him tickets to work on with the team.
• Gave him the experience of working with other teams such as DSO
• Gave him experience working in an agile studio by getting him to lead tasks such as stand up and other agile ceremonies.
• As part of the developer community in the studio, I have been an active member in the developer community of practice, the code 4000 project which teaches coding to men in prison at HMP Humber and a regular promoter of our teams/people's successes on social media.

• Within the studio, I mentored a number of developer and designers pushing them outside of their comfort zones to encourage them to develop new skills and boost their confidence by having them pair and shadow senior members of the team on live projects.
