• Transformed Electron from a struggling monolith into Zeta’s flagship SaaS benefits platform. As the de facto senior principal engineer, led the redesign, re-platforming, and team build-out—establishing Electron V2 as the reference architecture for SaaS modernization across the organization.
• Architected Electron V2 from scratch as a modular, multi-tenant microservices system with clear domain boundaries and platform alignment.
• Reduced API count by 85% by offloading complexity to platform services and introducing lean, composable interfaces.
• Designed a brand new anti-corruption layer between Tachyon (banking) and Electron (benefits), cleaning up legacy entanglements and ensuring bounded contexts.
• Achieved onboarding of 1M+ beneficiaries in under 10 minutes by optimizing DB queries, connection/thread pools, and adopting UUIDv7.

• Cloud platform:
• Designed and implemented distributed tracing for the core backend framework based on OpenTelemetry’s manual instrumentation that improved the mean-time to identify the root cause of incidents from roughly half an hour to just under five minutes—documented the integration guide(with emphasis on minimal integration steps) to optimize for org-wide engineering efficiency.
• Fixed a critical bug and optimized the code in the service discovery and load balancing layer, which improved the performance under heavy load by 98%.
• Planned and executed the OKRs in collaboration with the director of engineering and the technical program manager of the team. Identified, filtered, and prioritized the tasks for all the products offered by the team.
• Managed the team in the absence of the director of engineering.
• Offered technical mentorship to the rest of the team by assisting them with HLD, LLD, non-functional requirements, debugging and troubleshooting systems in production.
• Real-time Fraud Detection Platform:
• One of the core architects of the real-time fraud detection platform.
• Designed, implemented, and shipped the decision engine. Major features built include ultra-low latency compute(p95: 1ms), multi-tenancy, highly configurable decision inference layer, pluggable data sources, and runtime context enrichment.
• A hexacore machine(with 1 GB of RAM) can make 5000 decisions per second and is easily horizontally scalable.
• Worked closely with data engineering, data science, and product management teams to understand the requirements, translate them into tech spec, and implement the relevant APIs. Collaborated with the front-end team to build a customizable fraud detection dashboard per tenant.
• Key consumers of the platform are payments and authentication teams.
• Mentored four senior software engineers in the team.

• Tenant onboarding orchestration:
• Single-handedly engineered a Kubernetes and GitOps-based tenant orchestration framework to provision business modules to tenants.
• Cut down the onboarding time taken for a tenant from 3 weeks(manual configuration + QA for every product integrated) to just an hour by modelling the end-to-end pipeline using Infrastructure as Code, thereby enabling teams to leverage declarative semantics exposed by the framework.
• The declarative approach also paved the way for rapid adoption of the framework across the organization. The complete setup is disaster recovery(DR) compliant.
• Operations:
• Seamlessly migrated a couple of core infrastructure workloads from legacy production to Kubernetes.
• Commandeered 10+ high severity production incidents.
• Setup the Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) for core infrastructure offerings.
• Improved the observability of service discovery and HTTP API gateway by publishing and visualizing rich metrics across multiple dimensions(via Grafana) to quickly pinpoint issues during incidents.
• Application authentication and authorization:
• Solved inter-service authentication(using asymmetric cryptography) and authorization(using OAuth) across micro-services with out of the box support for multi-tenancy.
• Enabled various product teams to perform 1000+ onboardings onto the new platform, including the core payment team.
• Enterprise integrations:
• Built a plugin-based framework for runtime business logic customization per tenant as an Enterprise Integration Patterns(EIP) initiative.
• The plugins are modelled Kubernetes resources and are hot reloaded onto the production systems on deployment.
• Execution and program management:
• Planned and executed the quarterly OKRs for a bunch of infrastructure components.
• Setup the interview questionnaire and benchmark expectations for the roles in the infrastructure team.
• Evangelized core infrastructure offerings across business units at Zeta.

• Independently built and owned a highly scalable notification management microservice cluster, which saves $250,000 (approx.) for the organization every year by cutting down costs on redundant notifications. Engineered the mobile client code for the same as well. Onboarded two more software engineers to the project.
• Owned the entire Android monorepo consisting of over 25 modules and led a team of 6 engineers(4 developers and 2 QA) responsible for shipping apps for various tenants distributed across countries.
• Closely collaborated with National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) authorized auditors for integrating “Bharat QR” code-based payments in Zeta India mobile app. Explained the various security measures in both the client and server to prevent fraudulent transactions in the system and got the feature approved by NPCI.
• Engineered a couple of frameworks for assisting test-driven development(TDD): one each for the frontend and the backend, which in turn helped the team improve the stability of the system on production environment from 70% to 94%.

• Added support for multiple International Finance Institutions(IFI) in the Android app with an intuitive UX by closely working with the design and the product team.
• Single-handedly built the Android side of the app to app payments end to end, a feature that enables authorized third-party apps to leverage the user’s zeta wallet for seamless payment experience. The feature contributes to 20k+ transactions a day and I was recognized with the “UX Champion” title from the CTO for saving a business deal with one of the third-party integrations and for delivering a premium UX.
• Implemented payments via artificial intelligence(through Google Assistant). A simple voice command would automatically purchase the food you want from the cafeteria and deliver it to your desk. (Demo available on the portfolio)

• Improved the stability of the Android app from 97% to 99.9% by fixing app crashes and frozen UI(ANRs).
• Proactively enhanced the payment UX by minimizing the number of clicks needed to make a payment. The changes constitute a reduction of 42% in time taken to complete a payment, 47% reduced clicks to complete the payment, and increased the success rate of payments by 17%.
