I never planned to become a social innovator; it was something that found me along the way. Growing up in a progressive Sindhi business family in Ahmedabad, I was taught that success isn’t just about growth it’s about giving back meaningfully. That belief stayed with me as I pursued Industrial Engineering at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), where I developed a deep curiosity for how technology can solve real human problems. During my academic years, I was introduced to communities of visually impaired individuals full of potential, determination and dreams, yet limited by the lack of accessible innovation. That experience changed the direction of my life. I knew then that my purpose was to create solutions that could restore independence and dignity for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). That purpose became TorchIt, an organization built to empower the differently-abled through affordable, assistive technologies. Over time, the vision expanded from one product idea to an entire ecosystem of inclusion. My journey has taken me across borders from being a Leadership Innovation Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK to collaborating with MIT Media Lab’s Enabling Toys program in the US. Each experience has deepened my belief that innovation means little unless it improves lives. Being featured on Shark Tank India, receiving the National Award from the President of India, and being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 have all been milestones but they’re not the destination. They’re reminders of what’s possible when purpose meets persistence. Today, through TorchIt, we continue driving initiatives that promote inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunity. With Enablemart, we’re building a platform that brings together a wide range of assistive solutions making empowerment a reality for all. My mission remains simple yet unwavering: to use innovation as a bridge between limitation and independence, ensuring that every individual regardless of ability has the tools to live life with confidence, dignity and choice.
