About

Long story short - I went from selling industrial consumables for India's largest abrasives manufacturer across the length and breadth of India to helping start ups scale from 1-10 and beyond as a product marketing manager. (There was a masters degree in the mix too) No, I'm not going to chalk anything extraordinary to the master's stint. Aside from becoming good at research and carefully laying out my hypotheses (?) - Helps with growth experiments 🚀 (customary growth rocket) When I'm not doing all of this, I'm usually ogling pictures of motorcycles, cars, airplanes, rewatching old TopGear, and googling answers to random questions that pop up in my mind (Let's chalk that down to cUriOsITy). I used to write a blog about motorcycles and my trips between 2016 and 2019 which was taken down without notice by Gawker Media (Thanks Peter Thiel). I've recreated them on my personal site which you see on my profile. If I have visited your profile it is because I'm trying to understand how you've gotten to where you have. And if you're here stalking me, go ahead and hit that connect button. (Promise I won't share/write any LinkedIn fluff) Cheers!

Research Intern

Sep 2016 – Apr 2018 · 1 yr 7 mos · Eindhoven Area, Netherlands

  • The advent of autonomous vehicles is proving to be an eventuality rather than a possibility in the current context. Current human factors research is focused on the interactions between the human machine interface, trust in autonomous vehicles and the takeover/handover procedures. While these are all pertinent research directions in the quest to broad base autonomous vehicles in the near future, one important human factors issue is being neglected, The predicted increase in motion sickness upon the introduction of autonomous vehicles.
  • To test the influence of a haptic channel of stimulation on motion sickness and its resultant physiological markers, a wearable forearm haptic device was conceptualized and produced. The vibration patterns were designed using an Arduino microcontroller and vibrating tactors. In order to test the effectiveness of the prototype this thesis was carried out in conjunction with two PhD candidates. To simulate an autonomous vehicle, a Renault Espace was suitably modified.
  • The experiment was carried out per participant in two conditions, baseline and prototype. In the first phase five minutes of pulse rate data was recorded prior to the experiment. The second phase involved a drive in the vehicle on a pre-determined route within the university campus. The vehicle’s acceleration data in the x, y and z was collected and integrated to obtain a motion sickness dose value.
  • A 20% improvement in participants heart rate variability was found across participants with the prototype as opposed to without. I am currently working on co-authoring a research paper about my work with two Phd candidates within the designed intelligence group of the TU/e.
