Its business segments include Natural Gas, Liquid Hydrocarbons, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Transmission, City Gas Distribution, Petrochemicals, Exploration and Production, GAILTEL and Electricity Generation. GAIL was conferred with the "MAHARATNA" status on 01 February, 2013 by the Government of India under the leadership of Mr B.C. Tripathi who is the Chairman and Managing Director. At present, only 6 other Public Sector Enterprises enjoy this coveted status among all other CPSEs.
  • I worked with Gas Authority of India Limited, now GAIL (INDIA) LTD. for a period of two months. My main role was to understand the Natural Gas sector and the role of GAIL as a competitive player. Since GAIL is the market leader in the natural gas sector with over 70% market share, it is obvious that majority of the market is driven by the Market Leader. I also found out that there was a huge demand for Natural Gas in the market but the supply is very less. This widening gap between demand and supply is evidence that there is huge potential for the market to grow. I aggregated all my findings through Excel and presented my findings to the company.
