Shashank Sahani — Associate Partner
I grew up in a remote Indian village with no proper roads, electricity or access to quality education. My life changed when I was selected through a national entrance exam to study at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), a residential school for talented but economically underprivileged students. That opportunity and a few teachers who invested in me – completely changed the trajectory of my life. Like many students without exposure or guidance, my own higher education and early career choices were a maze of uninformed decisions: preparing for medicine, landing in engineering, choosing a branch I barely knew, and discovering software engineering almost by accident. The only constant was curiosity and a genuine love for learning. Over the last 26+ years, quality education has taken me from that village to working with organizations like TCS, Infosys, Accenture, ZS, GE, BP, Daimler, Microsoft, J&J, Novartis, Roche and others, across India, Europe, the US, UK and APAC. I’ve built and led data, analytics and AI capabilities that power critical decisions for global businesses. Today, I’m an Associate Principal / Partner at ZS, leading enterprise data platforms, cloud data engineering and AI-driven insights for a global pharma leader. I: ⦁ design and deliver enterprise data & analytics platforms ⦁ build data products and semantic layers that power AI ⦁ run my own “book of business” end to end (BD, solutioning, delivery, P&L) ⦁ develop future-ready, high-performing teams Along the way I’ve: ⦁ attempted an early telemedicine startup for rural India (pre-Covid) ⦁ coached junior managers on leadership & management ⦁ contributed to career counselling as part of my school’s alumni group As a parent, watching my son go through today’s education system has made certain problems impossible to ignore: ⦁ curiosity replaced by exam pressure, ⦁ large, factory-style classrooms with little personal attention, ⦁ marks that don’t translate into skills or career readiness, ⦁ students (and parents) forced to make life-shaping decisions with incomplete information and little guidance. That’s why I’m now transitioning towards an entrepreneurial journey at the intersection of: ⦁ AI-powered personalised learning, and ⦁ career & higher education guidance I recently completed Harvard’s Leadership in Digital Transformation program to sharpen how I drive AI-enabled change responsibly. If you’re an engineer, AI practitioner, product builder, educator or advisor interested in reimagining how students learn and choose careers, I’d be happy to connect.
