• I was excited when I learned app development and wanted to start a startup so I decided to launch an app called GenZ
• It solves financial problems for GenZ by providing them different types of skillsets and their sources from where they could learn and earn.
• It did the same on the basis of the people's interests .
• I made my first version and uploaded it on play store. Even though the design and functionality were good there were some key components missing leading to failure.
• 1. People like interactions more than reading long passages
• 2. This idea was more of a website or a blog idea than an app idea
• 3. The quiz was a good idea but the implementation was based on my personal observation of interest and careers of different people and was not backed or validated by research
• Eventually I realised that even though the idea may work(writing blogs and making a quiz to help people find skills), it was not something I wanted to do for the next five years.(A lot of similar blogs, even better exist)
• Stopped working on this
• I realised some key things I would want while working in a company or on something of my own:
• 1. It should intrigue and challenge me everyday
• 2. It should be something new or something that has a potential to disrupt an industry
• 3. The company size doesn't matter, the vision does
• 4. If you are motivated to work on something, you will go to lengths to make it work
• After I realised this, I started my quest to either find a job that suits me or built one.
