Mauro Porcini — CEO
Mauro Porcini is a seasoned design and innovation executive with over 30 years of experience across multiple industries, including technology, consumer electronics, and consumer goods, and the first-ever CDO of three global multibillon-dollar corporations—Samsung, PepsiCo, and 3M. In April 2025, he became Samsung’s inaugural President & Chief Design Officer, leading human-centered innovation across the company’s three business unites - mobile, display, TV, and appliance businesses. He oversees a global team of 1,500 designers in Seoul and across key creative hubs around the world. Previously, Mauro was the first Chief Design Officer at PepsiCo (2012- 2025) and 3M (2002 – 2012), where he built global design organizations from the ground up, reshaping how design drives innovation and growth. At PepsiCo, his team expanded to nearly 400 designers across 19 cities, redefining the role of design across product, brand, retail, and digital experiences. He began his career at Philips Design and later co-founded his own design firm, Wisemad Srl, in Italy with renowned entertainment producer and music icon Claudio Cecchetto. His work in wearable technology has been exhibited at the Louvre in Paris and the Seoul Arts Center. He is the author of The Human Side of Innovation (Berrett-Koehler), L’età dell’Eccellenza (Il Saggiatore), and – with his PepsiCo Design team – of Good Design is for Everyone (Rizzoli). Over the years, he has received with his teams more than 2,500 awards, the title of Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana, an order of knighthood bestowed upon him by the President of the Italian Republic, and numerous other accolades throughout his career, including being named to Fortune’s “40 under 40,” Fast Company’s “Masters of Design,” and Ad Age’s “Creativity 50”. Mauro is also the creator and host of the podcast In Your Shoes, and has appeared as a judge and presenter on New York by Design and America by Design. He has served on the boards of multiple organizations and was President of the Board of the Politecnico di Milano Foundation in the U.S. (Fellows of Politecnico) from 2022 until his move to South Korea in 2025. A passionate lover of design and fashion—but not addicted to it—Mauro owns more than 350 pairs of shoes. He holds dual citizenship (Italy and the U.S.) and currently resides in Seoul, South Korea, with his wife Carlotta, their children Beatrice and Leonardo, and their three Pomeranians—Leone, Bella, and Lupo.
