• Renify Technologies was born from my journey as a BIRAC SIIP Fellow, where I identified the critical problem of 14 lakh preventable deaths in India every year due to hospital-acquired Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). From concept to commercialization, I have led Renify’s growth into a medtech startup developing Renify (real-time urine output monitoring system) and AKICare (renal function monitoring system), taking them from early ideation to clinically validated products.

• The SIIP fellowship, under BIRAC’s SPARSH programme (Department of Biotechnology, Government of India), fosters biotechnological interventions in national priority areas such as Ageing & Elderly Health. It aims to develop market-based, affordable product solutions addressing critical healthcare gaps for vulnerable populations.
• As a SIIP Fellow:
• Applied the Biodesign framework to conduct a structured need analysis, convert validated needs into clear problem statements, and design final solutions.
• Immersed in prestigious healthcare institutions including St. John’s Medical College Hospital (Bangalore), HCG Oncology, JSS Mysore, Yenepoya Medical College, Narayana Health, nursing centres, PHCs, and CHCs.
• Fellowship journey:
• 6+ months identifying unmet clinical needs through hospital immersions, shadowing doctors, and observing surgical procedures.
• 6 months validating these needs with 200+ doctors and experts from multiple disciplines, ensuring industry and clinical relevance.
• 6 months developing prototypes, validating solutions with end consumers, and initiating fundraising activities.
• Identified the critical problem of 14 lakh preventable deaths in India every year due to hospital-acquired Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and conceptualized a solution to address it.
