About

I grew up in a small village in West Bengal, thanks to my parents who made a modest life for all of us from nothing. I was fortunate enough to be one of the few to receive the right education and opportunities. The opportunity to complete my engineering and MBA from one of India's top institutions which broadened my perspective and ambition. I am grateful that this came at a time when India's growth story is unfolding, a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. I wanted to channel my ambition and passion to support the roots I come from, building something unique and impactful. This led to the creation of Anuprerna, a sustainable ecosystem around artisanal textiles and products enabled by technology. Despite the significant reduction in home-based artisanal production over the years, India remains one of the largest producers of handmade textiles and goods. Creating consistent and stable employment opportunities for these artisans remains one of our primary missions. This is also a pivotal time as global buyers who are gradually moving towards more sustainable supply chain combined with their China+1 strategy. The potential export opportunity for Indian artisanal goods is set to increase significantly. We aim to seize this opportunity by creating a robust home-based artisanal production ecosystem. By combining sustainable manufacturing with technology-first solutions, we facilitate the sourcing of ready-to-order or custom-made textiles and textile products with ease. Impact: We are working directly with 150+ artisans spread across 25+ weaver clusters, primarily across five districts of West Bengal, and have expanded to Odisha and Jaipur.
