• Thesis topic: Modeling Nanoscale Transport Systems. Investigated three nanoscale systems (enzyme cascades on scaffolds, molecular shuttles, self-assembling nanowires) and collaborated with researchers in Operations Research and Microbiology to derive insights on transport and assembly processes at the nanoscale level.
• Combined mathematical modeling, practical labwork and data-driven computer simulations to discover emerging behaviors in enzymatic cascade systems. Challenged previous research and revised previously published findings to create a model complete picture of enzyme kinetics on scaffolds in order to inform precise engineering of artificial enzyme cascades in biofuel production.
• Designed and conducted molecular shuttle experiments on a kinesin-microtubule engineered assembly to study motion and self-assembly at the nanoscale. Produced the first engineered wire to bridge the nano- and macroscale (nanowire with millimeter-scale length)
