Dimension data

Technical Consultant - Microsoft UC Practice

May 2017Aug 2018 · 1 yr 3 mos · Greater Seattle Area

  • Technical Consultant (Contractor) with Dimension Data focused on transitioning legacy telephone systems to Microsoft’s Skype for Business solutions for various Dimension Data customers. Solutions required working with site surveys to properly size new deployments, create Bill of Materials, deploy Skype for Business topology adds/changes, configure users, common area phones and analog devices, and perform applicable pre, during and post deployment functions ensuring the smooth transition to Skype for Business. One Solution included worldwide hosted datacenters (Skype for Business topologies) managed by Dimension Data with strategically located SIP Trunks via Oracle SBCs and the customers AudioCodes equipment located in worldwide sites to provide user and common area phone accounts and analog connectivity for phones, faxes and modems. Another solution involved working with the customer with their own Skype for Business topology deployed in their own worldwide datacenters to design worldwide sites with Skype for Business implementations replacing legacy telephony solutions. These sites normally required new PSTN trunks (typically ISDN PRIs connected through AudioCodes Gateways/SBAs) so that the sites legacy telephony connectivity was not interrupted during turnup of the Skype for Business solution. Skills required for these deployments included knowledge of legacy telephony systems, Skype for Business design guidelines including proper sizing for remote office support, deployment of AudioCodes gateway and SBA functions, Skype for Business Topology Builder, Skype for Business SBA deployment functions, Skype for Business Control Panel usage to include User, Voice Routing, Response Groups and Network configuration/verification steps, and Skype for Business PowerShell functions including creation of csv files required for scripts that installed Skype for Business Users, Common Area Phone and Analog devices and commands that verified user and device configurations.
