About

Are you stuck applying online, sending out résumés and hearing nothing back; worried about paying the bills? Got a lengthy resume gap? Are you skilled at what you do, yet can't seem to get anyone to recognize your strengths? I've helped others who struggled with the same questions and circumstances. I've been there. Laid off multiple times; facing ageism; wondering what's next. That's why I'm passionate about helping others break through and land the opportunity they deserve. In what one of my clients called "an impossible job market", I help you gain an edge over the people who use AI to play the online application lottery. MY APPROACH I don't just hand you a résumé and wish you luck. I teach you the principles behind everything we create together, so you can maintain and update your materials yourself. You're not just getting documents—you're gaining career navigation skills that last a lifetime. GROUNDED IN REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE With a background spanning hi-tech roles, instructional design, and technical training (I'm a Certified Technical Trainer - CTT+), I understand diverse industries and can translate complex technical backgrounds into compelling narratives. I've helped professionals across all fields—from data analysts to executives to retail workers—articulate their value and stand out in competitive markets. I'm also actively engaged in the career development community. I judge submissions for the CPRW Certification Committee, I'm a member of the NRWA, PARW, and NCDA. I'm the official résumé writer for the Framingham Public Library. I collaborate with organizations like the Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA) and The White Hawk Group to stay current with the latest job search strategies and hiring trends. WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE TO WORK WITH ME People have told me how I helped them finally recognize their strengths and areas for growth. I've been called "compassionate," "thoughtful," and "honest"—someone who leaves clients feeling inspired rather than overwhelmed. One client noted that our conversation was unlike anything they'd experienced in their 40-plus years in business. That's because I genuinely care about your success, and I bring empathy born from navigating my own career challenges. Let's connect. Schedule a FREE consultation and together we’ll map your path forward. Because your next chapter is waiting—don't navigate it alone. 📧 ed-lawrence@getstart-ed.com 📞 508.250.0609 🌐 www.getstart-ed.com

Sessional Instructor

Sep 2019Nov 2024 · 5 yrs 2 mos · Greater Boston

  • As a group leader and featured presenter for 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group program that assists mature workers with their job-search and career aspirations. I facilitated in-person and remote career services sessions to an audience of job seekers age 50+.
  • In 2019 I started as group Leader for the Hopkinton and Franklin locations, working with town Senior Center staff to create, promote, and deliver sessions that focus on older workers looking for work or to transition to a new field.
  • In 2020, when the pandemic hit, I helped convert the program from an in-person program to online/Zoom, including writing a Zoom facilitation manual for my colleagues. We accomplished this conversion within three weeks.
  • In the Spring of 2021, this program was one of a few non-essential programs funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • In fact, the program expanded from 8 sessions to approximately 72, including an interactive series, networking days, a guest speaker series, and panel events.
  • I authored 10 of the 12 major presentations and co-hosted 30 sessions with HR expert Melody Beach.
  • Ageism is a growing problem for employers and our country, because the USA is growing older. Program such as this one are a vital component in Career Services.
  • I'm proud of how everyone associated with the MCOA and this 50+ group does so much to assist mature job-seekers, going beyond the usual call-of-duty.
