Chaitanya heads the ESG function at Kotak Mahindra Group and is responsible for its ESG strategy and performance. She is driving change management, building cross-functional frameworks and collaboration to streamline the adoption of this new topic. Chaitanya participates in origination of ESG aligned deals and is working to reduce the climate impacts on the portfolio. Prior to this, she was part of Tata Sustainability Group, the nodal resource on sustainability for Tata group of companies. In this role, she contributed to the development of sustainability strategy for the e-commerce, aviation and shipping companies, focusing on supply chain sustainability, data security & privacy, and customer centricity. Earlier, she was with Yes Bank, which is considered among the global pioneers in the sustainable finance space. During her tenure, she engaged with Development Financial Institutions extensively, managed green bonds and integrated ESG lens in transactions and disclosures. She organised India's first Green Finance Symposium, was part of the team that issued India’s first Green Bond, and secured the coveted Green Climate Fund accreditation for the bank. Chaitanya is part of the founding team of Principles for Responsible Banking. She is a certified Green Finance Specialist from Renewables Academy, Germany. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from IIT Kanpur and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from IIM Calcutta.
