Senior Student Orientation Assistant

May 2019Sep 2019 · 4 mos

  • Worked on a direct team of 4 but a larger team of 10 to plan, and execute an orientation program that welcomed 700 first year students coming from around the world. The entire program lasted two and a half weeks, and I executed all my events during Orientation with strong attention to detail and with an energetic, and positive attitude.
  • Main responsibility was Sponsorship Coordinator, tasks included designing a sponsorship package, approaching off campus partners to raise money, and in-kind donations to help supplement our programs. I managed relationships with various community partners while representing the UBC brand, and mediated problems that arose between various sponsors, and stakeholders. Sponsorship money, and in-kind donations totaled $18,000.
  • Recruited, trained, and managed over 200 student orientation leaders who supported students during the orientation. Created training modules and PowerPoints to use throughout our training, as well as delivering some presentations alone, and other as apart of a team. I represented the UBC brand throughout the school year as I engaged with volunteers and new students in our campus and local community.
  • Student Emcee at the Kick-Off ceremony where I delivered a 5-minute speech to the entire incoming class (1800 people), and UBC alumni and dignitaries including the President and Chancellor.

  • Supporting various volunteer projects when needed, for example partnering with other departments to provide my expertise when needed. Filled in for students who could not attend various community projects so the program could continue on as planned. Volunteered for, and supported other University departments programs such as Frosh, SAAM Awareness month, and the Campus Life Committee.
