Austin Gohn — Software Engineer
I'm Austin and I'm a senior Computer Science student at the University of Pittsburgh with a minor in Mathematics. I am proficient in Java, C, C#, C++, and python. I also have experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. My experiences in school and industry have shown me that I am passionate about using technology and data to solve real world challenges and drive meaningful change. At Ansys (Part of Synopsys) I work on the Workbench CAD Integration Team as an Intern. In this position, I have worked on several features in C++ and C# for the Discovery product. Currently, I am working on developing a CAD conversion tool to export CAD designs to STL files. I have also worked on several side projects, including a hackathon project that won second place. This project involved building a fall-detection program that automatically called emergency services and notified designated emergency contacts when a fall was detected. More of my projects can be found on my GitHub: github.com/agohn12. In addition to my technical background, I am also passionate about serving the community. As an Oakland Community Ambassador at Pitt, I helped bridge the gap between students and long term residents in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. In this role I planned and led both service and social events, guided teams of volunteers, and collaborated with community members to strengthen connections. I also helped to gather housing data from over 600 off-campus students. I’m always eager to connect with others who are passionate about technology, innovation, and community impact. Whether in tech, policy, or service, I’m driven to use my skills to contribute to meaningful change.
