• The project involved revamping a few platforms used by the Cisco Managed Services
• department. The platforms, named Ticket Assignment and Management (TAM) and
• Case Review Tool (CRT), are used by engineers to manage and review tickets assigned
• to them.
• TAM requires one engineer (queue manager) to constantly monitor the queue of
• incoming tickets to assign them to a pool of engineers based on the ticket priority and
• engineer availability. The queue manager would consider the backlog of the engineers,
• the current availability, the current ticket priority and the experience of the engineer
• with such tickets and then assign the ticket as he/she finds fit. But this takes up one
• engineer per shift, who can also pick tickets from the queue.
• In CRT, tickets are uploaded so that they can be reviewed by senior engineers which
• would provide feedback to engineer on how they can improve their approach to solving
• tickets. However, the tickets have to be manually uploaded by engineers and then
• assigned round robin to the various senior engineers. This implies that the reviews are
• done as and when the senior engineers see fit, thus reducing regularity.
• The scope of this project was to automate both the processes, while also implementing
• a few additional features whose requirements were obtained from the teams during the
• course of the internship.
