• My team at Simppler was hired by Indeed, where I joined the exciting mission to help people get jobs. Some of the highlights of my time at Indeed
• Singapore:
• Founding member of Indeed Singapore Engineering Centre. I was part of an exhilarating growth phase that involved interviewing, onboarding and creating rotation plans for new hires. We started with two engineers and within two years grew to a 40+ engineering team.
• Transitioned ownership of a charter and services that lead to the creation of an engineering group of 4 teams.
• I was responsible for two teams that owned user growth. I owned Indeed's salary and career pages.
• Managed 10+ engineers spread in two teams.
• Launched career pages, a 360 degree career information portal for 500 different job titles. This involved creating data-driven features like salary trends, top skills, educations, certificates, and presenting them to the users to help them get a wider view of their career.
• Launched company benefits page. This page would aggregate company reviews left by the employees and present the sentiment expressed in the reviews to help users understand the benefits offered by the company.

• Simppler envisions to transform recruiting into a data driven and collaborative process. Simppler India owns the data pipelines which power creation, enrichment and query of millions of profiles.
• 1. Created Simppler's Bangalore development centre and defined the charter and vision.
• 2. Lead engineering to build Industry's most advanced employee referral platform.
• 3. Created processes for continuous recommendation improvements.
• 4. Created data infrastructure and pipelines for candidate profile data acquisition, normalization and classification.
• 5. Lead performance optimization to bring down the time taken for recommendation jobs to 0.25x.
• 6. Wrote crawlers for continuous enrichment of candidate profiles in database.

• Created a brand new team of engineers which started with a vision to bring device parity to Amazon prime acquisition channels.
• 1. Worked with stakeholders to define vision of the team which was reviewed by Prime leadership team.
• 2. Launched and owned some of the most impactful Prime advertisements including checkout interstitial and mobile gateway.
• 3. Participated in new device launches and owned Prime on a wide spectrum of devices.
• 4. Lead the team in operational planning and excellence.
• 5. Within an year transitioned the team's charter to a more strategic initiative called unified signup pipeline. Worked with customers to create an architecture and requirements for the same.
• 6. Enabled a series of new benefit launches and location launches.
• 7. Successfully lead the team and planned for high transaction periods like Q4 (black friday, christmas) and Prime day.

• Transitioned to a leadership role for the team that owned distributed transaction framework and embedded applications. Developed and mentored a team of 8 engineers which was responsible for:
• 1. Faultless upgrades
• 2. Distributed framework and applications
• 3. Digital transponders and device drivers
• 4. Message queues and communication framework.
• Also participated and presented in architecture summits the designs to make system more loosely coupled and modular by programatically defining interface boundaries.

Aug 2008 – Nov 2012 · 4 yrs 3 mos

• Part of a multiple man year project responsible for converting the management and control plane software running on a network of network elements from monolithic to distributed. Previous architecture had a single controller controlling all the transactions on the entire network which was re-architected to run these transactions in a distributed fashion in such a way that the network failures could be isolated to the partitioned network. I was responsible for:
• 1. Implementing distributed transactions (both synchronous as well as synchronous)
• 2. Ensuring consistency guarantees as per the nature of transactions.
• 3. Retry orchestration of transactions which required high consistency.
• 4. Circuit breakers and heart beat logic.
• 5. SLA of distributed transactions.

• In Cisco, I was part of Optical Networking Group and my team owned alarms and performance monitoring. I worked on launches of various cards from device drivers to application logic. I designed severity determination of alarms on a UPSR link with double failures.

Dec 2003 – Jul 2005 · 1 yr 7 mos

• I was part of a team which owned maintenance and enhancements in LVL7's (later acquired by Broadcom) control and dataplane stack for L2 and L3 switches. My work included:
• 1. Persistence and transaction management: Network switches used to store all the configuration in memory and they would write it on disk upon the system reboot. I wrote the framework to ensure persistence of each transaction. This also involved creation of a transaction framework which would allow for rollbacks when hardware abstraction layer would not be able to guarantee a transaction.
• 2. VLAN OAM: This was during the phase when Ethernet OAM (Operations administration and management) was not yet a standard. The work involved working with architects of Seabridge Israel to create a new protocol which would allow administrators to administer the network on a per VLAN basis. For this we used custom ethernet frames that would run heartbeats on a link to detect link failures and would also measure latency and jitter on a link.
