He spends his career building venture funds, businesses and working with entrepreneurs in diverse areas such as enterprise and consumer software and climate technologies. Illai is a Founding Partner of Gescheit & Partners, a strategy and innovation advisory firm and serves on advisory boards of funds such as Atlas Capital and Barka Fund. He was a Venture Partner at Siemens Energy Ventures and previously served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at BP. He built and scaled new venturing units focused on decarbonization, energy and climate tech and helped build their portfolio of next generation sustainability and technology startups. Illai is an inventor of over 20 patents and his early entrepreneurial story was featured in the Harvard-MIT book publication Entrepreneurial Negotiation. He is a member of the Ashoka Entrepreneur-to-Entrepreneur Network, member of the Expert Network for the World Economic Forum and a Guest Lecturer at London Business School.
