Kamal Dhull — Product Manager
Summary: Results-driven Product Manager building fintech B2B/B2C products, currently serving 45M+ users and processing 200M+ daily transactions. My Story: Hello there! I’m Kamal, a first principles individual and ownership-driven problem solver with a passion for building products that users find delightful. This drive is complemented by my love for people, numbers, and winning. As an undergrad at IIT, I headed Enactus (Social Entrepreneurship Society) and D.Cypher (Dance Society). These experiences taught me how to play the role of an orchestrator/owner and deliver value, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. Parallelly, I learned coding and built a few pet projects, which helped me connect the dots on how digital products work. This led me to start my career as a Software Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover, building ADAS software for cars. Soon realizing my interest in owning the “What?” and “Why?” of products, and not just the “How?” as an engineer, I ventured into Product Management at Axis Bank, where I scaled the number of Bill Payments by 4x in 8 months by launching the Offers & Cashback product and validating my interest for PM. I also revamped the user journey on www.grabdeals.axisbank.com, improving the GMV. Later, I got the opportunity to join PhonePe and be a part of a high-growth environment and build for Digital India at scale. I was given the responsibility of onboarding online merchants for the newly launched Payment Gateway business. We launched a Self-Serve onboarding journey and scaled from ~0 to ~100k merchants in a 0-1 environment, while also reducing onboarding TAT from 5 days to just 1 day, thereby reducing operational costs. Given my work with online merchants, I was promoted and entrusted with tackling the onboarding challenges of offline merchants. I revamped the onboarding and KYC product suite due to a change in regulations, and we re-did the KYC of our entire 45M+ offline merchants. I also built a disputes management product to curb chargebacks/fraud txns, and recommendations for better sales. Currently, I am building an AI chatbot for doubt resolution.
