About

Economics graduate who somehow escaped the slow grind of government and big tech — both moved slower than my coffee machine. I figured it might be faster (and way more exciting) to just build things myself. Since then, I’ve been neck-deep in startups across AI, F&B tech, and fintech in Southeast Asia and India — building, breaking, fixing, scaling, and occasionally succeeding. Collectively, those ventures went on to raise around US$70 million, proving that stubborn optimism is sometimes a strategy. I’ve helped create multi-language AI products, digitized restaurant supply chains, and embedded finance for SMEs — learning mostly through late nights, wild ideas, and lessons you won’t find in any MBA program. My obsession? Great products, great people, and great chaos — in that order. Living the founder life — equal parts success, failure, and madness, but always worth the ride. I’ve given investors headaches, yet most keep coming back — and with some, I’ve chosen not to work again (and a few have made that same call… haha). Building a company is a team sport, and you can’t win with misaligned people or non-scalable investors. I’ve been lucky to build alongside driven, grounded, high-moral-compass humans — the kind who show up, fall, rise, and sometimes reunite to build again. The best investors and teammates I’ve had share one thing: they play the long game and still enjoy it. And when I’m not running companies, I’m usually convincing people to quit their jobs and start something of their own — sometimes even writing the first cheque to help them do it. Because life’s too short not to bet on yourself.

The bad levers

Chief Bad Lever

Jan 2026Present · 3 mos · Remote

  • I currently hold a self-created, non-remunerated, and statistically improbable role titled Chief Bad Lever.
  • This position typically requires several years of unpaid work, personal capital contributions during cash shortages, and meaningful equity ownership—followed by the discovery that equity and authority are not linearly related. Blood and sweat are considered baseline qualifications. Bonus points are awarded for surviving personal loss, as resilience appears to be a prerequisite.
  • The role involves navigating governance structures where those with smaller economic exposure may exercise outsized control, often while describing themselves as “marginal.” Among this group, elevated influence is conferred not by ownership but by seating arrangements.
  • A core responsibility is to take all assurances at face value. Repeated promises, even when unfulfilled, must be treated as forward-looking statements of the highest integrity—similar to trusting a weather forecast that never changes, regardless of actual conditions.
  • Another key requirement is permanence. You are expected to continue operating indefinitely. Resignation is permitted in theory, but not in effect. Even after it is accepted, it may be reinterpreted retroactively, as consistency is not a contractual obligation.
  • Despite its informality, the role carries broad exposure. You may observe delayed decisions, creative interpretations of governance, and selective urgency—all of which are best addressed through patience, optimism, and a strong sense of irony.
  • I am proud to have been appointed to this role and grateful for the clarity it has provided.
