About

AI demos are misleading. I say that as someone building AI products for PE and IB professionals, where a wrong number or an outdated logo in a client document is a credibility event. The gap between what AI does in a demo and what it does with your actual information memoranda, CIMs, and pitch decks is where most vendors lose you. It is also where we spend most of our time. Twenty-five years in content software taught me that the boring, unglamorous work is where reliable products are made. Things like eval suites, logo retrieval edge cases, and pie charts that add to 103%. The last 15% of any domain-specific task is where the AI either earns trust or loses it, and that is where we spend most of our time. Before this, I built Tiny from zero to a PE-backed exit. That experience made me more honest about what it actually takes. Product market fit is not a line on a slide. It is conversion rates moving from near zero to 20 to 30 percent because the AI did the actual work on someone’s real documents. If you work in PE or IB and you are evaluating whether AI can be trusted with client-facing documents, the free trial exists for exactly that reason.

We acquired Setka.io and shifted to remote-first during the pandemic; we had staff in 22 countries! Exited to a $10B growth-equity fund for 10X MOIC.

  • Moved to Silicon Valley and bootstrapped Ephox to the Inc 5,000 list of fastest-growing companies three times. Ephox was regularly one of EContent's 100 Companies that Matter Most in Digital Content. Developed strategic partnerships with IBM, Vignette, Open Text, FileNet, EPiServer, and more.
  • EditLive!, our main product, lost product-market fit as applet technology became untenable in modern browsers. In response, we launched Textbox.io as the world's first cloud-based rich text editor as a startup within a startup. The technology formed the basis of Tiny.cloud, which now serves 400 million loads/month.
