I am currently working as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. My post-doctoral research is focused on methane gas migration from landfills. I have worked on final covers, biocovers and gas collection systems in my research. All these works have been published as research articles in various international journals, conferences, and book chapters. I am also associated with an international agricultural project which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from paddy ecosystems. My doctoral research focused on soil dispersivity, wherein I developed analytical models for estimating dispersivity. I studied the mechanism of dispersion in soils, and it was established that zeta potential and monovalent cation concentration could be effectively used to characterize soil dispersivity. An infinitesimal particle approach and a finite particle approach were developed to estimate dispersivity from zeta potential values. Another analytical model was also developed for estimating dispersivity with monovalent cation concentration. The approaches essentially quantify dispersivity as a release of energy when the repulsive forces dominate over the attractive forces between the soil particles. My interests include geo-environmental engineering, landfill gas migration, waste management, soil mechanics, clay dispersivity, soil chemistry and soil physics.
