About

I have been fortunate to have played a small part in the success of some of the most iconic and successful consumer companies of Silicon Valley. Got a chance to work closely with and learn from Brian Armstrong, Brian Chesky, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. - Coinbase: Joined pre-IPO. Lead the consumer business through rapid growth in revenue (~$7B scale) and global expansion. - Airbnb: Scaled Airbnb Plus business unit as a GM. Lead the product management discipline as a functional head and grew the PM team to 200+ - Instagram: Joined when it was less than a 100 people and made $0 in revenue. Lead multiple products (IG shopping, Ads, Business products) and scaled them to millions of users and billions in revenue I thrive at scaling ideas, teams and revenue in unproven territories at both startups and scaled organizations.

Idea catalyst labs

Co-founder and CEO

Apr 2003Sep 2005 · 2 yrs 5 mos

  • While still in engineering college - decided to start a company with a few college friends.
  • Experimented with different ideas. Launched one of India’s very first comparison shopping sites and an email service that supported 25 Indian regional languages (not supported by major international email providers at the time)
  • Raised initial seed money from friends and family to get the product launched. Acquired users, won reviews and added additional features (eg- transliteration). Couldn’t raise anymore money during the recession (post-2000-dot-com-era). Closed operations and found a steady job.
  • Learnt a lot about running a start-up, listening to customers, managing money wisely, struggles in raising money during a down-turn and a bunch more – failed but had a ton of fun while trying to succeed.
